A seductive paradise
Ios is an island that wins you over, from the first moment you enter its harbour. Hora, the town that greets you upon arrival, is like a painting of tiny white house strokes set against an amphitheatrical landscape that invites you to discover it. An island of seductive beauty and golden beaches, Ios is said to be the homeland of Homer’s mother and the final resting place of the great epic poet.

Swim your way into magic
The beaches of Ios are a patchwork of nature’s magic touch. Mylopotas, is listed among the most beautiful beaches in Greece. A stunning sandy bay, ideal for water sports, invites you to explore the beauty that lies beneath its turquoise waters. If you are seeking serenity, Manganari beach is a secluded bay, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Surrounded by rocky cliffs covered in almonds and olive trees, Kalamos beach is the perfect hideaway and an inspiring, tranquil haven. For green crystal clear waters and golden sand away from crowds, head to the stunning beach of Kolitsani.

Inland explorations
When in Ios, there are certain places you should not miss out on. The Tomb of Homer is certainly one of them. Legend has it, that the great historian of Odyssey and Iliad, lies buried at a hill in Plakoto. If you want to further dig into history, a visit at Skarkos is both highly rewarding and enlightening.

Skarkos is an early Bronze Age settlement and the most important prehistoric archaeological site of the Cyclades. It was built in a circular shape and on a high altitude so that its residents could overlook the port and the sea. On a different note, the nightlife of Ios is as famous as its daytime excursions. Walk around Chora and watch the night turn alive as party time begins around the bars.
